Our champions have been right across Moray this month promoting wellbeing, self-management, recovery and our project to an ever widening age range of people.
Moray Libraries – Thank you to the great outreach team at Moray Library service for inviting us to all their wellbeing events this month. We had stalls at Milnes, Keith, Dufftown, Lossiemouth and Buckie. Every single one was run by Champions volunteering their time, usually in their local town.
WRAP awareness session, Phoenix Centre Buckie, 29th August – Thanks to our partners in the Phoenix centre for inviting Champions who have led and taken part in WRAP to give a taster session to those who use their services. From the two hour session we had new course sign ups and more champions – fantastic!
Elgin Academy, 31st August – S3 pupils invited us to talk about lived experiences on mental health problems and how we manage our wellbeing as part of a mental health focused project. The pupils had already submitted some questions and topics they were interested in, so three of us went along to give a talk and hope to inspire the pupils to want to learn more to support themselves. It was a great session, and afterwards some young people bravely asked very insightful questions in front of their peers – no mean feat for this age group and we were really impressed. Ideas for more schools work in the future and a hub project led by a young people are added to our drawing board!
SDS marketplace, 30th of August – Five champions turned up to support running a stall at the SDS marketplace. It was a hectic day, but as ever we enjoyed each other’s company, met some fantastic people and supported awareness raising.
